Google - Staff Software Engineering Manager

Staff Software Engineer IC (April 2023 - Jan 2025)
Senior Software Engineer (Oct 2018 - April 2023)
Software Engineer III (Oct 2016 - Oct 2018)
Software Engineer II (July 2015 - October 2016)

I joined Google NYC in 2015, and currently manage a team of 6 direct reports working on core infrastructure and new feature development in AI Mode and Search. The services we've built provide fresh web content and signals to teams across Google, serving six-figure QPS across 100+ internal clients (including Gemini, Discover, and Maps).

I'm a strong advocate for team culture rooted in psychological safety and growth opportunities, having found that this makes a team greater than the sum of its parts. Throughout my career, I've built an extensive history of partnering cross-functionally with Product Management, UX, and UXR to drive data-driven development, as well as building consensus across opinionated senior engineering leadership.

A nonexhaustive list of the consumer-facing products I've led and worked on:
Other experience of note:
  • Co-chair of the Google News DEI Championship program
  • Member of the inaugural Google "Leading for Liberation" cohort (with The Adaway Group)
  • 8x Google Engineering Residency career panel speaker
  • 5x Google Engineering Residency host (with 100% full-time conversion rate)
  • 5x summer intern mentor

Education

Tufts University

I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Tufts with a B.S. in Computer Science. A few members of the faculty I'm especially grateful for:

  • Remco Chang, my Intro to CS professor, undergrad advisor, and lead at VALT.
  • Ming Chow, my Data Structures professor and a ubiquotous influence on everyone in the program.
  • Noah Mendelsohn, who taught my favorite class, Internet-Scale Distributed Systems. I'll never try to implement a remote file-transfer protocol in one night again.

During my junior and senior year, I was epee captain on the Men's Fencing Team.
